My research interests focus on optical networks and network survivability, which include the following sub-areas:
- Integration of EPON and WiMAX
- Translucent optical networks
- Network thermodyanmic theory of telecommunicaitons networks and applying nature principles to telecommunications networks
- Protected Working Capacity Envelope (PWCE)-based dynamic survivable service provisioning
- Survivable optical networks, and in particular, p-cycles and path-segment-based survivability techniques
- MPLS/GMPLS
- Lightpath routing and wavelength assignments for optical networks
- Control and management of optical networks
- Architectural design and control algorithm development for single- and multiple-stage MEMS optical switches
- Translucent optical network design and service provisioning
- All Optical Packet Switching (OPS)
